Oh, and another perfect beauty!i must get some of these for my rockery when I've renovated it!

20 Feb, 2014

Yes, do - you won't regret it. She's sturdy like KH and Lady B. :-)

21 Feb, 2014

Like a powder blue very pretty.

21 Feb, 2014

Thanks - yes, very pretty and well worth growing.

22 Feb, 2014

Was looking at these online, lovely, on my list......bought some different ones instead locally...

25 Feb, 2014

Oh well, there's always next year!

26 Feb, 2014

There is indeed..

26 Feb, 2014

Make a note on your calendar, Dd.

27 Feb, 2014

Yes will do.....!!

27 Feb, 2014

:-))

28 Feb, 2014

aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, another blue plant to go on my "WANT!!!!" list. They're lovely,

28 Feb, 2014

you need Frank Elder too. he's lovely.

28 Feb, 2014

I'll look him up straight away!

just did. slightly puzzled - "Flesh & Blood: A Frank Elder Mystery (Frank Elder Mysteries)" - http://www.amazon.com/Flesh-Blood-Frank-Mystery-Mysteries/dp/0156031817

doh! tried adding "plant" before "frank elder" and got the iris of the same name. And you're right, that's gone on the list, too

Google also offered me Elder, which I'd also like, if I could get one to fit ...

28 Feb, 2014

Who sells Frank Elder? Does anyone know? Bulbs, I mean.

1 Mar, 2014

I think bloms bulbs do.

1 Mar, 2014

doesn't the RHS have lists of suppliers? if they can find the plant in their list, that is. I'm often amazed by what *doesn't* appear on their lists

ps just tried, nope! they don't seem to have heard of it

1 Mar, 2014

How ridiculous! I suppose it's because it's a bulb.

3 Mar, 2014

lol, proably not "posh" enough

4 Mar, 2014

I had a chat with Sbg last night about buying Irises in pots, and it might be the only way I'll get Frank Elder...that's if I can find him anywhere!

4 Mar, 2014

nods, fingers crossed for you - and not only because if you can, i might be able to, one day

tired to Google "buy iris frank elder UK" (to make sure didn't get too many tanslatlantic ofers!)and found

"Iris 'Frank Elder' bears sturdy flowers with a strange blend of blue and yellow-green colours, an unusual change from the now abundant 'Katherine Hodgkin'. IFC-25D 25 bulbs £7.00"
http://www.kevockgarden.co.uk/plantlist/ba13_iris_frank_elder.htm

this one sells bulbs indivudially, more you buy, cheaper they are, prices from 64p http://www.pottertons.co.uk/pott/view_product.php?pid=1301

There's probably more, but if you searched, yould be able to find out for yoiusrself, rather than me just giving yoiu the first couple that I found!

4 Mar, 2014

Kevock has a good reputation - thanks. :-)

6 Mar, 2014

let us know how it goes, please! these will be on my shopping list when I get a bit more sorted

6 Mar, 2014

Oh, I won't be buying them as plants - I shall wait until it's bulb buying time, Fran.

7 Mar, 2014

lol ok, don't blame you

9 Mar, 2014

When you see three or four flowers in a pot at £3, and you can buy 25 or more bulbs for that, well, it's a "no-brainer", isn't it.

9 Mar, 2014

lol indeed! given that if it's already in flower in the shop, how long will you have to enjoy it?

I do look forward to seeing your results, though of course it'll be a while before they bulb-buying season is back and a bit longer before they start to show. But am keen to see these beauties en masse

9 Mar, 2014

That's if I find any...and space to plant them!

10 Mar, 2014

sure that if anyone can, you can - findiing space is something else, but sure you'll find a niche here or there

10 Mar, 2014

But not a dedicated bed, no space....

11 Mar, 2014

lol you don't need another wall anywhere?? I was going to suggest planting them in niches between the bricks, but if it's a flood prevention wall, gaps are the last thing you want

11 Mar, 2014

They need to be planted deeply, anyway, Fran. No, no more new walls now.

12 Mar, 2014

ah right. but usually, if something's wanted enough, space will be found for it ... somewhere. I'm sure you'll find a niche, maybe in a place that will suddenly suggest itself to you

12 Mar, 2014

I hope so...

13 Mar, 2014

neer underestimate the power of sunchonicity - or coiincidece, if you prefer that term .. :-)

13 Mar, 2014

Errrr....

14 Mar, 2014

:-} it will come to pass, probably in a most unexepected way

14 Mar, 2014

Ah, I see. ;-) I hope that doesn't mean another dead tree! :-O

15 Mar, 2014

fingers x'd!

15 Mar, 2014

I was a bit worried about the old apple tree, but I think it's all right - just a bit of dead wood to cut out.

16 Mar, 2014

that sounds encouraging - do you have pics? I'm rather behind on catching up with people's galleries, sigh

16 Mar, 2014

Not of the apple tree...it's a bit boring until it gets its lovely blossom.

17 Mar, 2014

lol ok, then I awiat with eagerness the right season

17 Mar, 2014

:-)
