taken from the garden side. I was surprised to see what looks like a tree at the end, then realised that I'd been crouching and it was actually a shrub!

itlooks better on this side, which has been sheltered. the other side looks a lot more windswept. I've been advised to take cuttings or rootings to pot up, the other side of the plant looks a bit past its sell-by. Maybe it just needs a good haircut, but I'm a bit wary of overdoing it

Fantastoc, Fran. I have never seen so bushy heather. On the contrary, I think it probably had regular pruning in the past, as heather usually have more loose and horizontal habitat.

The other side is more sprawling, showing a lot more stem and looking a bit leggy. It's about knee-high, but on this pic looks like a hedge - which is why I thoguht the shrub was a tree for a moment!

...yes, leggy is more proper term...anyway, is it on your property? Lucky you!

it is, and I am, Kat! I've been advised to take cuttings, or small root clumps to get new growth.
If they take - that is, if I don't kill them by doing something wrong! - there might be some babies to spare later
