View of the bridge from Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is a neat place, there are no cars so the only way to travel on the island is by foot, horse or bike and the only way to get to the island is by ferry or plane.

sounds good to have a car-free zone!

The Mackinac Bridge connects Mackinaw city (Lower Peninsula) to St. Ignace (Upper Peninsula) and Mackinac Island is on Lake Huron between the Lower and Upper Peninsula. You are right about the bridge, only motor vehicles except for Labor Day when you can walk across. I've never been up there for it but it would be neat to walk across the bridge.

I hope they run buses over the bridge - otherwise it'd be a long swim for us non-car-owners!

That is interesting info RKwright. I thought that it is the opposite way : no pedestrians ..... only on the "bridge walk" day . I watched a documentary (some years ago) how it was built.
Is it closed to motorists besause of the bad weather?
