Tabebuia impetiginosa - Pink Ipê Tree

Tabebuia impetiginosa - Pink Ipê Tree (Tabebuia impetiginosa - Pink Ipê Tree)

All the Pink Ipê trees bloomed extra early this year, starting in January. This was due to the very warm to hot, dry winter we experienced here in San Diego and throughout most of California.

Klahanie:

Yes, Tabebuia species are such beautiful flowering trees. It should be very common in Mexico. Most are native to Mexico through South America.

Dottydaisy2:

Since cherries are not commonly grown here in San Diego this tree takes it's place.

Mochiseki:

Yes, in person this tree is so super spectacular! Doesn't this tree grow in India? It needs a lot of heat to bloom well.

Lovely, lovely tree! :-)) When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a Cherry tree! Just this evening I took a couple of photos of a Cherry tree halfway down our road.

Balcony:

Thanks! It has a very different shape and grows much larger than a cherry tree. However, even though the flowers are very different from a cherry tree, from a far it is sometimes mistaken for a cherry tree.

I have not seen it where I live in North India.

Mochiseki:

That's strange I would think it would be very common there. It's native to South America.
