I love the scent of Iris. This is such a classic colour for one. Lovely! How do you grow it there? Indoors?

I really love the scent of iris too. I got this one from a local plant sale last year. Its my first ever bearded iris bloom so I was definitely excited. I have it outdoors. I tried to keep the top of the rhizome uncovered but it soil kept covering it. I read that in hot climates like mine you can cover the rhizomes with up to an inch of soil so I guess I'll keep them as is. I had to cut the flowers and bring them indoors because we had a late season freeze this morning.

Wow! That's interesting! I never would have thought that bearded Iris would cope with your climate! Thank you!

Summer here can be really tough on most plants. Even the native plants struggled the past couple of years due to the drought. The tips of the leaves were the only parts damaged last Summer and as soon as it cooled off, they were back to normal. Hopefully this Summer won't be a repeat of the past two. In 2011 we had 71 days above 100. I lost tons of plants that year.

Hope it's not like that then! Keep on growing!
