Very strong plant with powerful presence in my garden. I actually propagated few plants from cuttings which I 've never done before. So I am proud of myself.

You will not be sorry to own one Homebird. It is a traffic stopper. It is fairly large plant.
This is what I know about it:
Was hybridized by F. D. Mossman in Vancouver, Washington(USA) and was introduced in 1962. Rhododendron 'Taurus' is the result of crossing Rhododendron 'The Honourable Jean Marie de Montague' x R. strigillosum.

Taurus is an early flowering rhododendron and it's buds are little fussy to cold so if you do not have sheltered spot try Rhododendron 'Grace Seabrook', which is a hybrid made from the same cross .. Grace Seabrook is nearly identical in appearance to Taurus and it is rated to be cold hardy to -10 degrees . The only difference is colour of their buds. Taurus has deep red buds and Grace Seabrook does not.... but the flower is same...or I do not see any difference.

I have all 3.... Grace Seabrook ,Taurus and "Jean Marie de Montague" which is the parent of both of these and very strong dependable plant.
