About me
I live in Waveney Valley near a market town, Beccles; the River Waveney runs for 30 miles from Diss in the west, to Lowestoft in the east, where flows into the North Sea: it forms the border between Suffolk and Norfolk.
I have lived in my present house for over 40 years, and have a small-ish garden, which I enlarged a bit a few years back, by buying some land from my neighbough.
I am blessed by having an slightly acid loam, which allows me to grow Rhododendrons; I also grow a wide range flowers shrubs, roses - we have in the past three years, planted several D. Austin roses, bringing my rose total rose collection to around fifty -- I also grow veg, and 25 grapevines, mostly for wine; when all of the recently planted vines are fruiting, I have the potential for producing 60 to 70 bottles a year.
We have French relatives living in the south near Nimes; the the Savoir; and the Alps. near the Italian border. This time last year we spent two wondeful weeks in the Alps walking and gardening at 6,000 ft. It was the first time I had planted potatoes, and pruned roses, to the sound of cow-bells and cuckoos!
