for some reason it looks a bit square on the sides

Looks like Lonicera nitida from here Fran...is it evergreen? It could be square because it has been topiarised into a cube in the past.

I rather like my 'lollipop bushes' in the front garden Fran. Mine are bright Spireas like goldflame in your back garden, that flower pink blossoms and don't mind being cut back hard if I think I will do that. A couple of light trims a year usually keep them in order. Come to think of it, you have quite a bit to do with those 2 areas at the front and the back garden as well. You could make the lollipop into a chicken or a peacock!

Dorjac, can you see a hedgehog facing to the right?

I enlarged to full screen on the iPad Karen and there is a shape on the right of the bush at the base. Whether it is a hedgehog or not I can't say, but it is intriguing.

...shouldn't have had the second glass of gooseberry Gin!

Gooseberry gin eh! Good after a hard bit of gardening Karen. Gives me an idea for jostaberries gin if I get enough of them this year. They make a very dark powerful flavoured sauce that has a hint of gooseberry, as they are a gooseberry/ black currant cross. Now I have another idea how to use them.

Great idea! I didn't make it, it was my good friend Janet, came down on Friday with a bottle of Gooseberry, and a bottle of Sloe. She's a treasure!

Saw the Jostaberry plant today, but decided to go for blueberries :)

Probably a wise decision Karen. They grow like topsy and put on quite a bit of muscle no matter how you try to curb them. If I can do jostaberry gin I might just keep one of them!
