Rain today so Mrs Blackbird has been out on the lawn gathering up mud from some bare earth and mashing it with grass cuttings and off to the nest to do her lining with an inch round blob in her beak. Hope the Magpie doesn't see her. Mr blackbird is hard at work with show offy singing.

soudns good, Dorjac, did you get any pics?

She didn't take all that long to line her nest. Probably started early on as the rain came through. She may have laid her eggs by now, as it's all gone a bit quiet. I think cutting the big trees has scared off the magpies a bit. So no chance to get a shot of her with a beak full of mud pie.

ah, right. lol it's better to observe from a distance than get evidence close-up that might disturb them.
lol what we need is a motion-sense camera network all over the garden! then we could sit indoors and watch - ha, watch leaves being blown about and next door's cat on its rounds, most likely

Looks like Ribes to me Fran. Do the leaves smell musty/aromatic? This shrub can get a bit frisky if not pruned yearly a week or 2 after flowering. Pink dangly flowers, same smell as leaves. A blackbird has built a nest in ours. Yet six weeks ago it looked bare and ugly, amazing.
