Are your waterlillies starting to surface yet?

Yes Dandan in both ponds, don't think they will like the top pond with the fountain though so might not do well with flowers but they are already doing better in the other pond, its just for the wildlife so we don't need a pump or filter in that one....

Aw that's good! Ours have just started to reach the surface but this year we've got more moving water so they aren't too keen on it I don't think!

is the fountain solar, or mains electirc, Lincs?
I'm trying to find solar pumps to make my own small water feature, but so many options. Most of them are for "gushers", and I want only a "gurgle"

Its electric Fran, my daughter had a lovely solar one in her other house, it was lovely but no good on a cloudy day, I believe they can be expensive as well

I've found some cheap ones, but, "you get what you pay for". I've been looking for ones with battery backup, as a GoYer suggested; divert the power to charge the battery, and it can play when you want it, rather than when the sun's shining.
lol but I want both! I did think about batteries I could charge up on the mains, then I could have them working whenever I wanted to, but they don't seem to do those.
My solar fountain was packed up for about three years; it'd only play about an hour a day (if I were lucky) cos that was all thedirect sunlight i had.
Mains would be easier, but not sure if the HA would agree - the paving would have to be taken up and relaid, for one thing. and one would have to be absolutely sure of hte siting beforehand, and no room for flexibility
