You could grow this Euphorbia at the back of your Berberis, they would go well together, and it really does stand out, but eh you have got to like orange to enjoy this one. lol :O) I was thinking about it today, your Berberis that is, what about planting a yellow Laburnum tree to the side of it that would tone it done for you. :O)

I think the Laburnum would come too late Mum. The Laburnum trees are just starting here, and the Berberis is almost done. I would like to tone it down with something dark red....I was thinking perhaps a Sambucus but that might be a bit too late as well. A Photinia would work, but I'm not keen...needs more thought! Perhaps a red leaved crab apple...that would be nice...

Crab Apple like the one I have but not as miniature as mine, it is a pretty one, dark bronzie red leaves with a very dark pink blossom. It has a trailing habit too which is lovely. Sorry I cannot remember the name of it and the label has been destroyed.

That's ok. Trailing habit would work well there though....will look into dark leaved Malus.
