Hosta mediovariegata

Hosta mediovariegata

This was £3 at the supermarket. If I can keep the slugs and snails at bay, I think it will prove remarkably good value!

I have all my hostas in pots which have "legs" on them and they haven't attempted to get into the pots yet !

Bargain!!

That sounds a distinct avenue of research, Rose. Pots on legs seems an excellent idea!

It was, Tuesdaybear. I went back yesterday, but there were none left. No surprise, really.

Well...give it a try Mel. What have you got to lose !

Nothing at all, Rose - I shall rig something up!

It's got a very long flower spike now. I shall have to pot it on soon. I think it's going to be rather a large specimen. I have always grown hostas in pots, so I can move them ahead of the snails - I shall need a large pot, I think!

I am overrun with slugs and snails this year - it's not been so bad for a few years. My poor cosmos plants - they'd only been in the bed for two days and there's only one left! I'd already lost ten seedlings when I put them out to harden off. And this hosta now looks a bit more tattered than it does in the photo. Oh well...

Love that Hosta!

It's a little bit nibbled now, and it's produced a very long flower spike! I think I shall be splitting it and repotting it at the end of the summer - it seems to have two distinct parts.

Yes, they do split very easily. The ones with the long flower stalks seem to be especially like that I find.

Good! Not bad for £3, then!
