Hi terratoonie, I think overall I prefer this to the white, but I don't like the smell of the leaves!

I must sniff the leaves of my geraniums and see which colours smell the worst ;o)

oh I like the smell of this one, it arrived in my garden from the birds, and I love the herby smell of the leaves. lol. Would not do for us all to be alike now would it. The bees adore this too. Just finishing now in my garden, do you think if I chop it down to the ground it might come again this summer. Monty Don suggests that we do that with the geraniums and I have never done it to mine but thought I would give it a go this year. Ah well time will tell. lol.

Hi Ol, I often go away in June/July and cut my Geranium lovelace, which is a prolific seeder, down to the ground, water it well and ,Bobs your uncle, it's back in the same place bigger and elsewhere. I quite like this cranesbills seed heads and leave them. Don't know if M.D. means cutting into the woodier stems, they do tend to elongate and need to be replanted deeper each year, (as does my Heucheras).
Ps why don't you try pruning half the clump to see?

Chopped one at the back of a seat down to the bottom and it is already shooting back into leaf. It was 'Samabor' so we shall see if that flowers again. The others are in the open and I am scared to do them in case they look too much of a mess but think after seeing how quickly this one has started to shoot I might just give it a go. lol. as they say - nothing ventured nothing gained. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks do that, make a mental note of how far you cut it down and whether it re flowers. I am going to do a test piece of macrorrhizum, cutting right into the woody stem to see - right now!
Done it, thanks Oliveoil, have just found a sorry Heuchera
Kassandra below it.

Nice find. I like the leaf colour on that geranium it has lovely shades of red so I am loathed to cut it back but will do it on one that is not in my eyeline further up the garden. :0)
