No Dawn I bought it in a garden centre sale it's still very small but has some nice new leaves coming in the middle it was only £4.oo apparently they like high levels of water which might be a problem here, perfect for you ! I'm copying from the sheet I have ,it says ...The leaves ,and possibly the whole plant will die back in freezing temps.. it will often re-sprout from roots several feet away from the parent plant .. PH 5.5 very acid to 8 slightly alkaline ...
it is adapted to chalk, clay, loamy sand, peat, clay, sandy clay.
I hope that helps :o)

Thanks for the info Amy, yes sounds like it would like it here if given a little winter protection. I'll try and find one, you got a bargain with yours.

Does it grow huge, like Gunnera? I really envy you and all the UK Goy people, who can plant lovelies like this! I hope it does well for you Amy.

Thanks Lori ,It does grow big Lori it has an ultimate height of 19 ft and spread of 9 ft . I'm not sure that it will ever reach anything like that in our climate but I'm hoping it will get quite large eventually ....

I'm afraid mine isn't in a bog garden in fact our garden is dry most of the time , It will be interesting to see how it goes on , .. I'm beginning to think I should move it before it gets too settled !

Was admiring this in Karen's new planting scheme. Worried it might not survive here, hardy to -5, I believe. Did you buy online Amy?
