Penstemon smallii

I take it it spreads its seed around? How smallii is it? Does it flower all summer?:-)

It's smaller than one of the 'usual' Penstemons, but I don't know if it seeds itself. Meanie will have to tell you that.

Yes, it will self seed quite happily.

It's much like P.digitalis (Huskers Red is the common cultivar) in its growth habits - basal clump with the flower spike emerging late spring/early summer. It's not like the shrubby Penstemons that flower for the whole summer, it just dies back to the neat basal clump.
