finally remembered that I had this beach umbrella in the shed, and that I'd bought a new, smaller base for it from Asda (the previous Lidl one is huge). At first it didn't feel right to want to block out the sun, but it was appreciated!

Well it can be too much of a good thing Fran. Nice to relax in the garden but not to be baked to a frazzle. Our sun brolly is looking a bit tatty now but serves the purpose. They can be a bit mobile when the wind kicks up. Nice chirpy colour. Lovely big blue geranium too.

It would have helped if there'd been even a tiny breeze to take the edge off, but it was just belting st raight down.

I did have a proper garden umbrella, but it cut out too much light; this one is a lot thinner; lets the light through, or most of it.

the pole tilts about half-way along so the brolly can be angled; I left it overnight and it was on its end in the morning, the wind had got under it. So I have to remember to close it in the evening: the big old base would have had enough weight, but the pole-hole ws wider and the brolly just took off the first time I used it!
