Well, it would have bloomed sooner if I hadn't forgot to water it!

Oleanders never receive any water at all during the very long dry season here...and they bloom profusely virtually all year.

Since I've kept it wet I've had zero bud blast.

Yes, Oleander needs dry conditions.
Oleander is one of the those shrubs which needs to be kept dry. There's 30 plus miles of Oleander which is planted in the medium of the 5 freeway in San Diego County...and they receive no water at all (except for when it rains). They're always in bloom.

I love the colour, there are some massive pink ones in gardens near the sea, but never seen this colour before...

It was the only one that wasn't pink DD. A fiver from Lidl a couple of years ago.

Meanie:
You don't have white, red, salmon, and brighter yellow colors there? I love the salmon or orange colored dwarf ones!

Yes, but this is the best colour that I've seen a Nerium in.

From Lidl my goodness how lucky was that? I much prefer it to the other colours.

I guessing you guys grow mostly the dwarf forms?
Have you experienced the Oleander blight there? Here many Oleanders are dying from a blight (although, there's so many, many millions of plants here I don't think they'll get wiped out). I haven't seen the dwarf forms affected by the blight, though.

How dwarf is your dwarf, most of the forms around here are about 10 ft tall by 10 ft wide...

Mine is deffo a dwarf form.

Much nicer, in my opinion.

Dottydaisy2:
We have very small dwarf forms here that only grow to 18" (46cm) tall...and then some which grow from 4 - 6' (1.2 - 1.8m) tall. The species oleander grows from 15 to 30' (4.6 - 10m) tall and extremely fast. In my opinion it's too difficult to keep it small.

I prefer the dwarf forms, especially for our small garden!!

Yes, I think that's why the dwarf varieties have become so popular here. Also, I think the dwarf forms are resistant to Oleander Leaf Scorch (Xylella fastidiosa), which there's no cure.
