This shows the cactus itself. It is not sharp at all. You could hold it in your hand with no ill effects whatsoever :)
It feels rather crusty lol :)
The little hairy tufts will develop into buds in the future ...

How about the flower bases Hywel. They look like they have some prickles. Or is it soft texture?

The flower bases are a bit prickly.
On the cactus itself, the spines curve downwards, so they won't hurt you :)
