Lovely I can smell them from here.....we used to grow them in our old garden, luckily a neighbour grows them, so we always have a good supply.

We are very lucky having this lovely fruit on our doorstep there's nothing nicer in the winter than a Blackberry & Apple pie or Crumble ... I was watching the blackbirds tucking into this bouquet today Linda they then repay me by dropping all the bramble seeds in my garden leaving me to pull up an endless supply of brambles next year , they are a nightmare !

I have to make Blackberry Jelly Waddy my OH doesn't like the seeds in blackberry jam they get under his denture plate Lol... Pam I actually feel guilty at the huge quantity here that will go to waste with the exception of half a dozen people in the local cottages to pick them , they get used in a variety of ways Lori ,Jelly, wine, blackberry and apple crumble / pies , I freeze most and use them as and when I want them ..

Well, I fully intend to go and pick some just across from me in the forest, and do what you do and freeze them for the winter months! Saying that I used the last lot ( last summers)from the freezer yesterday in a crumble which was inspired by reading all about your blackberry recipe suggestions!!! I had forgotten they were lurking in there. Still full of flavour too:))

Pam I had to hurry up and use my old blackberries before replacing them with new ones , they do keep very well don't they when you have people visiting from towns or areas where they don't have access to them they think its a real treat when you make something with them !

We have always enjoyed blackberrying and we used to cycle out on to the Romney Marsh and pick all day! Then followed lovely puds all winter long :) My neighbour then grew them too and his wife wouldn't eat them if there wasn't an R in the month! All the more for us :)

Romney Marsh always sounds eerie to me I have visions of the un-dead creeping out of gloomy creaks I must have read to many ghosty stories in the past, We were always told never to pick blackberries in September as that's when the devil spits on them ... Yuk !

Did you read the Dr Syn books, Amy, about smuggling etc on Romney Marsh? I fell in love with the area when we moved there in 1972, so much space and openness and everyone was so friendly :)
