This is the first year I've noticed this type. They're very quick. The ones I've seen dive into a flower, are there for a second, and fly away, as opposed to visiting neighbouring flowers. I've been trying to get a shot for a while now.

Looks similar to what we call a yellow jacket except he's green. Very strange !

This bee is quite small - around half the size of a honey bee. I still have a healthy respect for it, of course, but right now all the insects are more interested in the flowers, especially the alliums, that they totally disregard me. Only the monarch butterfly I tried to photograph was cautious and took off both times I approached.
