If I told non gardeners that I had once staggered under the weight of one leaf that I had to carry to the dump, I wonder if they'd believe me. Had to put a pad on my shoulder too!

We went to a botanical garden a few years ago and it rained and we each stood underneath one of the leaves of this plant for shelter.

Holly glad I am not the only mad person growing Gunnera in a small garden!!
FF I can believe that.....,..ours is in heavy clay soil, which is restricting it somewhat.
Lindak that is what I am aiming for!!

I didn't think I could grow these in my dry garden but I'm tempted to try !

You can grow one in a large pot amy as I have... that way you can give it plenty of water, mines huge now and I have taken a piece and started one off in the ground as well....

Thanks for that Holly I hadn't thought of doing it that way my problem is we already have a lot of pots which is a worry when it comes to the watering of them especially when we are away on holiday , next week we will be away for a month the garden always looks like a jungle when we return ......
