Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'

Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' (Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee')

My Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' is blooming like crazy...it's loving the very hot and humid weather. It's getting a lot bigger than I want it; although, I don't want to cut it back because all the flower buds are at the ends of the branches. Photo taken Aug. 26, 2014.

As stunning as always!

I wish I could show a 360º view of this plant. It has so many flowers. It's just growing much too fast.

No need to show off!

28 Aug, 2014

Why not show off. LOL! It is growing way too fast, though. I will have to cut it back, unfortunately. :>(

This plant has been wilting every day. It's been hot, in the upper 90's the last couple of days...and very hot at night. It's already very hot this morning! YUCK!

There you go - showing off again! It's sodding freezing here!

28 Aug, 2014

I can't believe it would freezing there at this time of year! It's still summer!

It's around 90ºF (32ºC) outside and it's only 10:30 a.m. I really don't like this weather at all!!! You can have it!

I really want to go to the beach, where it's a little cooler (only around 90ºF (32ºC). The waves are the largest in 25 years (thanks to hurricane Marie) along the S. Cal. coast, up 25' (8m) high in many areas. Many tens of thousands of surfers are there. You can't find parking there from San Diego up to Malibu.

I DO want it!!!

Come to Southern California and you will have it. LOL!

It's still unbearably hot tonight...still 80ºF (27ºC) at around midnight. In my house is still around 90ºF (32ºC), though. I'm sure you wouldn't want that heat!

Never mind d the flipping weather you two.......nothing you can do about it lol. I like the flowers, not a plant I know.

Dottydaisy2:

It's a very, very tropical vine. I'm growing it as a standard, though. However, it's sprawling out quite a bit. I'll need to cut it back very soon.

So very true...there's nothing we can do about the weather...so this is why I complain. LOL! :>) It's cooling down a bit...it's only 75ºF (24ºC) at around midnight...and only 85ºF (29ºC) in the house.

Only 85 lol

DD - Allamanda can be rather rampant if it's happy. See the pic in the link below...................

Dottydaisy2:

Now, it's only 81ºF in the house at 12:17 a.m. LOL! However, it's very muggy.

Meanie:

Yes, I know how rampant they can grow. I've seen huge ones. I can't allow mine to get so large...I don't have space, unfortunately.

Allamanda cathartica doesn't like being in a pot. I had one in a pot and it died. They must be in the ground to grow freely. I get nervous growing vines because even vines that are "not" suppose grow large will become monsters here in San Diego.

I can imagine, with a climate like yours.

3 Sep, 2014

In the wet tropics it grows much, much faster, though.

Thanks! This is a very popular hybrid in South Florida. It's starting to become popular here in San Diego.

Stunning very preyy foliage as well.

Yes, the leaves are like felt...with little soft hairs.

4 Jun, 2017

How nice they feel like felt.

4 Jun, 2017

Yes, it's a really beautiful plant! Most other species of Allamanda have very glossy leaves.

5 Jun, 2017

Thats good they come in different varieties then.

6 Jun, 2017

Yes, different species and varieties. This one is a hybrid of Allamanda violacea, which looks very similar.

Take a look.
