You're very lucky Klahanie. I've never seen owls this close; I've seen one only from the distance, and at night, as opposed to during the day. I once (only once!) saw a “dame blanche” (white owl) flying around the lit-up church adjacent to our property. That's all. But it was mysterious sight/thing to watch.

Great pictures all three ,think yours is probably easier to spot than ours which are all brown and blend with all around them.

They should be active at nights ...that' is why we do not see more of them. I do not know why this guy/gal is not sleeping during the day. Although, here and there I see its eyes closed .
The "dame blanche" owls do have that mysterious aura about them, Tommymoo. They are associated to wisdom.

I am very supersticious, if it comes to owls appearing close to someone´s house.

Owl myths, legends, and superstitions surrounding them are fascinating:

the ancient Greeks came to associate the owl with Athena(daughter of Zeus) because she was a symbol of higher wisdom. The owl was a bird of prophecy and wisdom in many ancient cultures.

Christian had a more negative view of the owl. They thought it was connected to Lilith, the first wife of Adam, who would not submit to him.

In Wales, the owl was regarded as a fertility sign. If a woman heard an owl hooting while she was pregnant, then an easy birth was to follow.

In France, when a pregnant woman hears an Owl, ....her child will be a girl.

In Scotland, it's bad luck to see an Owl in daylight.

Many Native Americans have negative associations of the owl. Many groups have come to see it as a bad sign.
A hooting owl close to the house can be a sign of danger.

The female owl will only mate with a male she truly trusts.
