I noticed last year how much the goldfinches loved the seeds on this plant, its only just forming seed and they've remembered and are back!! at 8ft tall its like a giant bird feeder,I counted 6 on there today, sorry the pictures not so good taken from the upstairs window, didn't want to frighten them off :-)

Thankyou, I've just been watching them again while eating my breakfast you can practically set your watch by them :-)
its a good job they're usually to fast for the cats Wylie, I had a robin doing just the same the other day singing its head off flitting about in the elder while a tabby cat lay flat on the ground underneath!!, mice aren't so fast though a grey cat walked past the window the other night with one in his mouth that's why I don't mind the 2 or 3 cats that visit our garden they keep the mice down which can be a pain in the greenhouse in winter, and its very rare that they catch any birds.

Birds can be pretty good about posing. Just last night I was sitting out back with 2 cats on my lap while a bird teased them from a pine tree.
