Once a toxic dumping ground, industries agreed to stop dumping waste into the Bronx River in 2007. The Bronx River was New York's 'ace in the hole' as it powered many of the city's mills and turbines during colonial days.

So glad they've come to their senses.

Yes, thank you. Me too. The River now offers a safe haven to the native fish, birds, plants and all kinds of wildlife. Free canoe rides and kayaking. We all benefit in the end.

Glad the people have come to their senses and stopped polluting the river. Lovely to have plenty of wildlife around. We need to realise that humans aren't the only ones who live on this planet. We need the the flora and fauna as well and we should be prepared to respect that as it's all a balance.

I agree 100%. It's amazing what greed will drive some people to do.

I never knew there was a river called that.
It's good that it's being kept clean now ... :)

The Bronx River is not very big as compared to the Hudson River or the Mississippi, it's really just a tributary that empties into the East River. It is fresh water suitable for drinking.
