Doing well in a public park near my home. Not at a botanical garden. With a happy duck resting in the shade of the palm. He had a hard day of being a duck I guess...

I remember years ago (when I lived in the Bay Area) when a small tree in a gallon used to cost $125.00. This is why I never tried one up there.

I had one Andy for 3 years..FAST grower in a larger and larger pot. 3 weeks after planting? A gopher killed it. It had been growing 5 fronds a summer. in a pot! I paid $80 for that in a 3 gallon. Never seen one for sale here since. It was a summer they (Lowes) also sold Bottle palms,Foxtails and many Kings from one to 15 gallon sizes. Never again.
Sandra- I have seen Bismarckia grown indoors in a atrium and grew fine. So,they are fast and a palm to try indoors if you have the required "big sunny window"..lol.

Yes, they grow fast. There's some Bismarck palms here that are 50' tall. Now, that people can buy large ones for around $40.00 (at palms nurseries) they are so widely grown. Foxtail palms are super common here, also. In my neighborhood there's many large trees.
This house is less than a half mile from where I live.
There's so many more palms. The trees are much larger, now. It has the most Wodveitchia palms I've ever seen in one garden.

It looks terrific! It's a pretty tough palm. As it gets larger it'll grow much faster.
I have many photos of Bismarckia here. They are very common now. You can buy large ones now for only 35 or $40.
