The home to the left is my rental cottage...and the Home to the right it my massive estate (eyes rolling)..next to the empty lot that has given me a headache with its Gophers that ate many palms and rare shrubs,Racoons (ate my Koi,Goldfish) and Possums..that I guess eat my fern fiddleheads. Wild Kingdom. Fun.

I pulled up a Rhapsis palm the day before. It had been a large healthy plant on the porch..kept falling over on a windy day. Planted it..gophers found it after a year. All I saw Andy was rhizomes and three 2" roots. Its repotted as is a 6' green Ti plant. No roots and part of the trunk eaten. It had been in ground 6 or 7 years.

Yes, I know how horrible gophers can be. I had a large F. benjamina, which I thought was well-established and it was leaning one day...damaged from gophers. This was when I lived in Mission San Jose, Fremont. I could never grow a Dypsis decaryi without it being eaten by gophers...they loved the roots!

I remember those days in the Bay Area of battling gophers.
