Sage in winter mode

Yes, you definitely can forgive her. That's incredible, twenty years old! My dog, Puccini is almost 16 and not doing well these last few months. He sleeps a lot, also.

She seems ok. Arthritic and doesn't moult properly anymore (whole areas come out over a few days and then regrow, hence the browny coloured patch) but full of spirit!

Is Puccini struggling with the heat maybe?

Arthritis is really horrible when the weather starts to change (and that's for anyone).

The main thing is she's still full of spirit.

Puccini has an enlarged heart, which I just found out when he collapsed about two months ago. I originally thought it was the continued horrible heat this year...until I took him to the vet. Last Friday I walked Puccini to the vet (which is around the corner) and he collapsed from coughing it's partially due because it was already 85ºF (29ºC) at 8:30 am. The heat really exacerbates his condition.

I hope that his condition improves.

Unfortunately, Puccini most likely won't make it to his next birthday in April. :>( Even with his medication there's no cure for an enlarged heart in a dog.

Your wood burner looks like ours Meanie I wouldn't be without it ! Sage is enjoying the warmth our puss survived until her 21st and luckily was quite healthy until the end . I'm sorry to hear your sad news Delonix its heartbreaking when the time comes to lose a much loved pet ... :o(

Do you have to use your wood burning stove every day?

Yup!!!

Wow! I can't imagine using a wood-burning stove when it's been so hot here. We just had one of the hottest Thanksgiving Days (Nov 27) here in San Diego and Southern California. It was 90 - 95ºF (32 - 35ºC). It's suppose to rain tomorrow and we going to be so very happy! We so desperately need the rain, not the hot, dry and clear weather (I'm so tired of this weather).
