We planted this Daphne last year, it looks very healthy and thought we would protect it against the frost and snow.

Thanks Hywel. My wife has wanted a Daphne Odora for many years. We have lost two, in previous years, due to the wrong siting in the garden. This one seems to like it and has a lot of new growth on it...... but I know it's early days yet. I am trying to give it a fighting chance, to get through it first winter.

Thanks Carole, I hope so. Wendy and I first came across the Daphne Odora at our Daughters house about ten years ago. It was down the side of her house, quite near to the downstairs bathroom window. I noticed a BEAUTIFUL fragrance, each time I walked down the side of the house .... assuming it was a rather nice air freshener that had just been used ......... lol. I then realised is was the perfume from the Daphne ! It was a really old and well developed shrub that had gone a little bit 'leggy' but was covered in hundreds of flowers. Unfortunately they hired an inexperienced gardener whose philosophy was, prune everything as hard as you can. Correct in a majority of cases, but unfortunately he killed the shrub. We have tried to grow two in our garden over the years but haven't had much time to offer them the TLC they deserve. Now I am retired, I will nurture this one and hopefully be successful.

Snug as a bug in a rug :D I hope it works for you.
And you've reminded me - I was going to protect some of my hardy fuchsias from the worst weather. I'll have to do it tomorrow.
