I've had two, and both failed. Can't blame it on the poor drainage either, as cornus tolerate that easily.

I think all cornus are invaluable. They like my clay. In mid winter they are worth their weight in gold.

they do DD but they desperately need cutting back, quite a challenge as on the slope and 50 metres of them.

I will DD. In hindsight I wish I'd gone for all red stemmed but I have alternate blocks of red and yellow.

Being as our garden is small we have gone with yellow, red, black and multi, a bit of an experiment really Dawn, as usual..

I love midwinter fire, but have never been able to grow it. It just doesn't grow for me. :(
