Little signs of summer colour!

Flowering too! I read that given the right conditions, pelargoniums need no rest or period of dormancy.

Looking great Widrose, I took cuttings last year and they are now starting to flower too.

A pretty splash of colour,Chris..I've only just taken all the flowers off mine, cut them back and potted them up in some fresh compost..all ready to go out when it's time :o)

My goodness WR anyone would think this photo was taken in summer. I don't seem to be able to keep geraniums over winter. I think I might water them too much.

Maybe so,Julia..I hardly ever water mine in winter,and even then,it's only a small amount,as it only runs straight through anyway,with being so dry...and the same flowers from summer have stayed on till I gave them the chop this week..Give them another go next year :o)

Lovely to see the Pelagoniums in flower, we have one going in the conservatory.....

This winter we left all our pelargoniums in the porch and covered them with fleece whenever it was frosty. It seems to have been enough, so far so good!

That's the spirit,Julia ..:o) I have noticed they are getting new leaves on,since I potted them up into fresh compost,and gave them a good drink.I think with them being drought resistant,they don't seem to mind being dry through winter..They don't ever seem to get watered abroad do they? and they look stunning..:o)

Sandra, I'm planning to use mainly geraniums in my baskets etc this year for that very reason. Perhaps I'll be able to overwinter them when they are dismantled at the end of summer. I shall be looking to you for advice and tips. One idea was to take some cuttings in the summer and then overwinter them for use the following summer.

So am I,Julia..they last all summer with minimum attention,don't they? I can't be bothered taking cuttings,as a lot don't seem to do well for me..and by the time it's time to plant them,it takes all summer to get decent sized plants..plus,they are so cheap to buy in packs...I'll see you on plant day at the market ! Lol

Monday,Thursday and Saturdays,Julia..one stall holder is there all three days,the other only two,I think..I alternate between the two,depending on what they have,or which is best..Never had a problem with any I have bought from either..
