Brian, I have posted the same question several times, but no one answered to me, yet. I asked people who grow camelias, if they fertilise them anually and if they do, what sort of fertiliser do they use. Do you use any, please?

I treat them the same as Rhododendrons lime free compost plus Rhododendron liquid and granular fertilizer twice a year if they encounter to much lime leaves tend to yellow, but yellowing can also be caused from being pot bound if grown in a container.

OK, thank you for the advice. I potted them in acidic soil and I use hoof chips as a fertiliser. They are planted in a semishade area, but still, no flowers for three years. I will try fertiliser for rhodies then. We will see. Thank you.

I know you're growing conditions are different to mine but tell me do they make much new growth each year,If the answer is no then I would say there is something lacking in the compost,I find them very vigorous and have to prune them.
Would think hoof chips would take a long time to break down try a liquid one first that way it will get straight to the roots.
Another thought if they have been potted for 3 years has the compost gone sour or compacted either would make them sulk

They grow each year just 2-3 cm, with few new leaves. However, they are in the soil for three years already, I fertilise them twice each year. But maybe I should dig the out and put them in more fertile land. The part of garden, where they are is stoney chalk soil, which is wet and shadowed by large pine tree, but definitely the soil is not rich in compost.

Does not sound idea conditions if you move them mix in plenty of humus rich compost peat or leaf mould with your existing soil.
