These Cherry trees were flowering in Buttsgrove Way at this time last year but are not quite as advanced as this in April 2015.

No, the weather has been quite kind to us during the last 6 months. Other than periods of excessive wind the weather has been quite mild with few frosty spells & only a couple of brief snow showers. In the last couple of weeks we have had a couple of days each week with temps reaching 20ºC rather warm for April but apparently not terribly unusual.
I looked at these couple of trees a bit yesterday but, from a distance, I couldn't make out any buds but I really need to get up closer to see if the trees are even alive.

That's strange. Maybe it's because it was a very mild winter, possibly?
I know the warmer the winter the less cherry trees will flower. Here we had so many days above 80ºC in January and had several days of 88ºF (31ºF) or higher in February and March with warm to hot nights. Some nights were 80ºF (27ºC) at midnight...which is very unusual even for San Diego in the middle of winter. These temps create very poor flowering in cherry trees or any tree/plant that need a lot of cold to set flowers.

These Cherry trees are at last putting out flowers! I took a photo just yesterday but it will be a week before the trees are really covered in flowers.
Check out my photos for yesterday's photo.

I sounds like the cherry trees there are well behind schedule for their flowering.
I'll check them out. Thanks.

Lots of other trees in a street called "Drivers Avenue" have come into flower during the last week! I took photos of all of them on Saturday! They are really lovely! :-))
