Magenta flower spikes on Gladiolus byzantinus. The corms of this species Gladiolus do tend to go walkabout.

I let mine ramble thro' my Iris bed, then if I lift to divide the Iris, I move the Glad back to the back of the bed to restart its progress forwards.

I think where we live inland in Hants, we are sheltered by the Isle Of Wight, so quite warm.
