Yes, dahlias are beautiful. But they are lots of fussing here. Too wet in the winter so they have to be lifted and replanted in the spring ....otherwise they rot in the ground. I think they might be better in a large pot with good drainage, but have never tried it. They add lots of colour.

Next year,Dahlias are on the list. Here,we have tree Dahlias..but from what I've seen,they tend to get leggy and winds can snap the stems.
San Leandro used to have a Dahlia festival. I don't know if that's still going.
