It just showed up on the hill. I am in the dilemma if I should cut it down or not. It is huge and good looking but I do not want it growing everywhere next year.

I did try Sheila but it is enormous and on the hill and very prickly. So I will enjoy it for a little while (sure is a conversation piece) and then call for help to cut it down :-)

I always thought of this as a weed. LOL!
It doesn't grow here in San Diego (I've never seen it here, anyway) I know in the San Francisco Bay Area after a rainy winter it would try take over my yard.

It is a weed and can be very bad if I let it seed. It has "zillion" flowers and looks very pretty (for a weed)
I will cut it down next week.

I know it can be invasive. I never liked the spines.

It used to grow every year by my fence. When it went to seed? Little tit birds..TINY finch like birds, would always show up to eat the seeds. That would be the only time i would see what seemed like social and playful birds.
This year they cut most down in the empty lot...but I see one or two in front dividing our property.
Now that you remind me Klahanie..I guess I will leave them after I was ready to cut them down.

Oh no, Stan...I cut it down last week. I was worried that it will seed everywhere. Never thought of birds.

Maybe dead-head it before it sets seed?
