Today I harvested over 9 kilo of gooseberries and I top/tailed and washed them, bagged them, gave away and froze the rest ready for pies or whatever. They always seem to keep very well in the freezer. I have lots more still to harvest and I know that's going to take another few hours of trimming and cleaning and sorting into nice bags. I love this time of year.

This job kept me busy for quite a few hours, but it was a nice day and I was happy working in the garden. Shame they are gooseberries, although I do like them, just not in huge quantities. Some are very ripe and good to eat straight away, very sweet. Others need a pie case making. I have to be in the mood though. Anyway, I did manage to give some away. Hopefully, every last one will be enjoyed.

My sister makes gooseberry jam. Gooseberries are nice mixed with apple in a pie.

I'm going to try gooseberry jam. I do like apple and gooseberry pie. I make that combination sometimes too. Better than plain gooseberry. I will look into making jam as I have got quite a few strawberries growing still. Strawberry and gooseberry jam maybe.

Mixed fruit jam sounds delicious to me.
