Do you manage to overwinter it?

I usually collect the seed and grow fresh each year Siris but this year for the first time they came back! Glad really as I couldn't remember which were dark and which pale blue when it came to collect seed ,this year I ll mark them lol.

Have you tried taking cuttings Kathy? Ive found with salvia microphylla, cuttings take easy and seem to be ahead than the ones that survive winter, if you know what i mean x

Strangely not with this one Dawn I don't know why lol, I'll try this year, I have dug up and over wintered the tubers before which worked well but they didn't get going and quicker than seed so haven't bothered since.

I find the cuttings take easy and you have a decent size plant ready for planting out in spring.

I ll definitely be trying it this year :-)

I found a patens 'Patio Pink' the other day not a huge amount of flowers left on it but they are huge! Found the one with the most cutting material and hey I've taken 4 fingers crossed :-)

Brilliant Kathy. They root really quickly. Some of mine taken a few weeks ago already have roots through the bottom of the pots :)

I overwinter the tubers. They don't get going any quicker as you say but the plants just get bigger every year.

OH has taken cuttings, so fingers crossed, have come to love these plants..

I took cuttings from the new pink patens I bought and they've rooted and one has flower buds! should pinch them of I suppose as its only little.
