Chamaecyparis lawsoniana

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana

dead. (no, it is not a Cryptomeria japonica elegans)
It was magnificent blue tree when we moved in 11 years ago. It will be cut down next spring. I feel like I am loosing a good friend.
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana is not a native tree here so it was planted when the house was built probably in 1970 or 71.They are in trouble generally here in Pacific Northwest and apparently the University in Oregon is developing one more resistant to root fungus.
The red tree beside it is flowering (ornamental)plum (Prunus cerasifera) probably planted in the same time. It also looks magnificent in the spring. It blooms very early. They say it is a short lived tree but this one still looks pretty good for its age. I would buy one if it would come on the market in my lifetime. Beautiful evergreen tree.

I'm sorry about your tree. At least the red one next to it will have more space now to fill in.

Thanks Bathgate. There is a small orchard behind it so it will get more sun.
