Loves red bark.
Like the west's Manzanita's. Theres another native with red bark in the west.the name escapes me. Stands out among the all green Coastal Live Oaks.

thanks, It really stands out in winter against the greys and browns and especially against the snow.

Is that your 'Natchez'? I have seen some crepe myrtles with attractive bark but that is probably the prettiest one I have seen.

Thanks Rkwright, Yes this is the Natchez Crepe Myrtle. It's one of the larger specimens but it can handle New York winters. It's a pretty tree in all seasons. The new bark really stands out in winter.
