The balcony would look lovely with clematis over it but there aren't many that will do well in a pot, they need a depth of 45cm & mustn't be allowed to dry out. I got one specially made for one of mine.
I think they are quite hungry plants as they put out a lot of growth.
Do you know which varieties you have?
Sorry my reply is late in coming but I'm not getting notified of comments on my pics so pure chance I saw it.

GF, my one & only Clematis is the one you comment on, C.tangutica 'Radar Love'.
I had to search through my photos on GoY before I found some photos I once uploaded! These photos still exist on my computer but unfortunately it broke down months ago & I no longer have access to the hard drive where they are stored. It is a 2nd hard drive I installed years ago & is chock-a-block full of 1,000s of photos! The computer I now use is a tiny notebook without the ability to install a new drive. Thanks to GoY I have now found a couple of these photos & have downloaded them to this notebook! :-))

I have lost my photos several times in the past due to hard drive dying. I then got a back up 2nd drive & again hard drive died & so did the back up both at the same time. Now I make sure my pics go on the cloud - hopefully they'll be safe there!
I would think your Radar Love will do fine if its in a really big pot & you hard prune each year as well as feed it of course.
I'll look forward to seeing your pics when its in flower.

I grew some Clematis plants very similar to this one from seeds sent to be by a GoY member called sixpence. She send me seeds of one called "Freckles" also but they never germinated. :-(( The Clematis seeds that did germinate were from "Radar Love". I planted several out on Gerry's allotment, round the base of a dwarf apple tree & around the base of a "Victoria" plum tree, they have really gone mad this year. The poor apple tree is practically smothered in it - even after I cut it all down to the ground in March! The ones growing up the plum tree have reached a height of at least 5-6m! They have had plenty of flowers & have produced their fluffy seed heads.
I had a couple of plants on the balcony but they never seemed to do very well but this year I have discovered various pots with its seedlings in! Only one has grown big & I transplanted a week ago into a bigger pot so it can eventually grow up the balcony fencing.
