This is not the same as a month ago, even though they are siblings. If it bloomed before, it wasn't good enough to take a photo. I think both that opened today are good enough to keep.

It usually comes down to space. I start about 300 seedlings every year, and the ones that I keep begin to add up. There isn't room for everything, so tough choices have to be made.

I know the feeling. My garden is a sardine can! How big is yours?

4,000 sq meters, but a lot is taken up by windbreak trees and it is on different levels.

To make room, I have offered my neighbour a tree for Christmas that blocks the morning sun in an area I will be opening up, and there is a tall tree that blocks the afternoon sun that will have to go. I have been using only the back half of my property, but I need more planting room.

Well I've been undecided all summer whether to keep the allotment on its taking so much time just keeping on top of the garden Robs been busy chopping unsafe trees and every time I went down to the allotment the mass of weeds was quite depressing, but Rob wants to keep it on and off to do some clearing on his half this week the Daylily area isnt to bad really so we'll get it sorted, with me everything's got to be done yesterday lol need to chill a bit more so I'm told.

I have been out marking the new area I am opening for the seedlings I am saving this year. It will be 5 Meters long (I used my metric tape measure); and about 1.5 meters wide. If you are really into daylilies, it seems you need more room for more plants every year. I know if I had another large row, I would start more seeds.
In about a week, my newest plants should arrive: Bit of Blue, Nature's Way, Dream of Summer, and Eloquently Edged.
