Yes Sue , we've just come home after a week away to find several waiting to be picked,I'm the only one who likes them I have one each morning on my porridge , I wonder why that is Dawn did you plant yours in a square container to keep the roots contained ? we used slabs !

I love figs. Unfortunately I have diverticulitis so I can't enjoy them anymore.

Oh Waddy I have diverticulitis as well , I didn't know you weren't suppose to eat figs , is that why I had a dreadful blown up stomach and massive cramps last night ?

Oh dear, that could be it. I was advised to stay away from fruit with seeds such as figs, raspberry, strawberries, blackberries etc. But I think a lot of it is trial and error to find out what you can and can't eat. So far figs, raspberries and blackberries are on my list a d would you believe sweetcorn and very grainy bread which is blow as I like them all! (Sigh).

What a nuisance Waddy I hate seeing the Figs go to waste , I had found out sweet corn is on my list something else I love ..I always buy grainy bread but only eat it occasionally , I'm worse if I eat out not sure why could be additives in the food as we mostly eat home grown and home cooked meals .... we shall have to compare notes when something upsets us !!

Sounds like a good idea. :)

Amy, I have one fig in a huge pot so was hoping it would have the same effect at the slabs in the ground. This is the darn pot I dropped on my toe when I was attempting to move the pot with the sack barrow, the toenail has never been the same and I had those awful ingrowing toe nails after too. Everytime I look at the fig in the pot I growl, lol.

Ouch! Dawnsaunt no wonder you're not keen on that particular fig!
30 Aug, 2015
Haha Waddy. Was my own fault, I'd had it in the greenhouse all winter and was trying to move it myself, too heavy for me to get on the sack barrow and bang, down it came in my toe.

:( no laughing matter.

Oh Dawn , Nasty pot !! you deserve some good figs as a reward for that , you must be careful , as far as I know Fig trees don't need to go in the greenhouse ,ours covers a wall it would never go in a greenhouse even if we wanted it to ...

Thanks Amy. I will leave it be then, under the pergola.
