Unfortunately, these flowers didn't last so long in the extremely hot weather we've been having here in inland San Diego, CA. Photo taken August 14, 2015.

I'm not sure. I traded this Crinum for a plant about 5 years ago.
This plant isn't looking so good in the very hot, horrible weather we've been having, though.

Shame because it's a very nice looking plant!

This plant doesn't like temps above 100ºF (38ºC) like we've been having in inland San Diego. It tends to burn and just doesn't look so good. Tonight, it's finally cooled down to 75ºF (24ºC) at mid-night, instead of the last several nights of scorching temps. It feels so good!

I can imagine that's quite a relief after such high temps! They have been having extremely high temps in much of continental Europe but here in the UK it has been quite a cool "summer"! For much of July & August the temps have been below average for the time of year & also quite a bit more windy & rainy.
In our region, East Anglia, we have been fortunate in that whenever warmer air has come over from the continent, for a brief visit, we have benefited from it. We have also managed to avoid the worst of the rainfall ending up with more or less the annual average for the British summer.
Perhaps your Crinum would be happier with our weather! On the other hand it might not like our cooler conditions & higher rainfall. LOL!

I think this Crinum can tolerate warm conditions, just not the extreme heat and humidity we've been having for the last 3 weeks. It appears (on inspections, today) that it was shaded by a Canna leaf, which helped it from burning up.
Crinums love water (so it should love the rain there); however, many of the ones we grow here are tropical or subtropical. I think some can be root-hardy, though. Crinum 'Queen Emma' is a tropical variety. The one posted (above) I think may be hardier. It does like some sun to flower, but here it burns all the time in full sun. My 50' (16m) Jacaranda tree in the front yard gives it some shade, also.

Well it should live to flower another year then! :-)) It was fortunate the Canna leaf gave it some protection as it would have been a shame to lose it.

This is the second flowering in two months. It may flower again in October.
Yes, it is lucky it did have some shade or it would've been history.
