Everytime I go by my heart aches. Beautiful blue tree , now orange (really stands out). We will cut it down in the spring. This tree is not suitable for Pacific North west. Too wet. It lasted at least 45 years. That's how old this house is.
By the way it was built by British nationals. Owner was an engineer and had some unique technological ideas which are now obsolete but were probably wonders in its time :-)

You are right Green_finger. Actually, I have started few climbers there this year already . Nevertheless, I will miss that tree.

Its just part of the cycle. We've all had it happen. I never thought Klahanie I would outlive a Schefflera I planted in 1978. And a Modesto Ash I planted in 1980? Its looking older.
I'm going to plant a acorn. I want to see what its like full grown-wink.

It is a good idea to plant an acorn Stan. I planted some dwarf trees under but will put a Picea Pungens in its space . I loved the blue coloured tree there. Will leave the bottom of the dead trees for growing climbers on.

Stan - I planted an acorn about 3 years ago - it's now about 8" tall . . . slow!
