Ponderosa Pine

Ponderosa Pine

A common conifer in the New York landscape. It makes everything smell like Christmas.

It's a beautiful pine! I know this pine tree is native to extreme Northern California to Northwest Western States into Western Canada. Many of the pine trees are dying here in San Diego and throughout California due to the historic, extreme drought. :>(

I'm so sorry to hear that about. I hope the rains come quickly. Doesn't your rainy season start up soon?

Here in San Diego it's starts in November; however, many times in November we receive no rains (and very warm temps) and many times very little rain until around Christmas. This year is a Super El Niño so this should bring us a tremendous amount of rain. It would take about 8 times the amount of rain that hit the Carolinas over this week to break California's drought (this is according to The Weather Channel). This is how severe our drought is. Most reservoirs here in California are almost dry, or at about 10 to 20 percent of normal.

We've only had sparse rain here in New York. I didn't hear a single clap of thunder all summer. All the snow we had over the winter is what's saving us now from drought. I hope the rains come soon for you, but not all at once.

I hope you don't go into drought! It's not a good for people or plants.

It's been extremely hot, here. Yesterday's high was 103ºF (where I live) and this morning's low was 76ºF. It most likely is going to be about the same high temp today. I'm so ready for cooler weather.

The temperture here has already started to cool down; you can feel it at night. Summers here are typically dry and we seem be back on the normal cycle now with regular rainfall - Yes it's a big relief, no more hot sweaty days.

You're lucky to have your normal weather back. We haven't had normal weather the whole year. Almost every month of this year has been well above normal. September was the hottest on record in San Diego (also January, February, March and April were the hottest on record).

Today it was 100ºF (Where I live). Tomorrow is forecasted to be around 99ºF. The next several days is forecasted to be hot and humid.
