I miss our hedgehog visitors, but we have closed up all the gaps under the gates and fences to stop unwanted cats.

Oh, what a shame. Apparently there has been a 20% decline in hog numbers in the last few years.

That is such a pity, Waddy, they are such useful animals to have in the garden, help keep down the pests.

I quite agree but modern living has paid a big part in their decline. Paved over gardens, fences, and gardens too neat have all taken their toll.
