My shredder will only do woody stuff. Other green stuff I just chop up with large shears. My compost heap is so warm at the moment and Robin waits till I uncover it, then in for worms.

Where is your compost heap, I don't remember seeing it.....

There is a strip of about 6 ft wide down the side of the bungalow stoppered at the ending with a 4ft brick wall. The compost heap is right at the end. It is 2 of those join-together slatted types. It at this time of year, at it's maximum size. The strip has a 3 brick wide path to the end with a border each side. This is where I have my Thornless Giant Blackberry, some raspberry canes and seedling Hellebores awaiting colour evaluation. It only gets the the sun fleetingly mid day in summer. There are also water barrels at each end fed from the end down pipes. I did a blog about a year ago, when a Gou member challenged us to show our working "untidy" areas.

Yes mine doesn't like the green stuff hollyhocks and inula racemosa are my favourite for shredding lol, I use them on my wood path, so many slopes in there it makes it less slippy.

Simbad, poor Man's Veratrum nigrum, which has exactly the same colour new flowers. I have received mail order a new V.n. I had one years ago, but lost it before it actually flowered. They do take a while to mature. Good luck with your seed.
