Miniature Rose

Miniature Rose

A rose that blooms in December in New York. What about all those blizzards we had last year? Today was 60f.

I heard back east you're getting much warmer than normal temps. We just started getting chilly weather the last two days. It was in the low 80's before this cold front moved through two nights ago. Now, we're freezing!!! (of course not literally, it's in the low 60's). LOL!

For us it's been in the upper 60's and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. We had two feet of snow this time last year.

The weather here is also behaving very strangely. We are having very mild temperatures with no sign of it changing in the near future. Spring flowers are already putting in an appearance and I've even heard of birds gathering nesting material.

Wow, that's a little daunting to hear Julia. What worries me is that the weather can "turn on a dime" as they say. What will happen to those birds and plants if we get a sudden blast of winter? They can be wiped out.

The next couple of days we'll have temps in the low to mid-70's...which is close to normal for this time of year.

I heard this December New York City may not record a freezing temperature. The Weather Channel said this would be the first time in recorded history. That's pretty incredible! :>) Happy Planting out there.

LOL thanks I think mother nature is trying to apologize for that chain of record breaking blizzards she sent us last year. I'm not complaining, i'm thinking what to plant.

That's what worries me Paul. I've heard it said that plants such as spring bulbs and soforth, just stop growing, until it warms up again. Baby birds don't have that luxury, they will not only find the temperatures impossible to cope with, but the lack of food will prove too much for them.

Bathgate:

You deserve the warmth after last year's horrible blizzards.
I think the long range forecast shows it'll be mild through March there. Here we've had some cool nights (it feels really cold to us San Diegan cold-weather-whimps!). Jan -March it's showing above average temps...maybe this will be the beginning of the warm El Nino storms.
