I've seen some this colour in the super markets are they really that colour or do they dye them Paul ?

That's wild. Like vinyl plastic CD Orchids.
I think Amy,its methylene blue or blue dye. The same stuff they used in science class as a kid that would turn a stalk of Celery blue by the next morning.

I'm sure some type of dye is used. This blue is much more vivid than appears - almost psychedelic. I've seen purple, yellow & red as well. I remember that experiment too Stan - with standard food dye. CDs? That's old tech.

That one bath, and the drop a tooth into a glass of coca cola to see what it does to your teeth. I still worry when I drink cola.

It looks great but I'm not sure I like the idea of colouring plants ... I've seen Heathers in pots in strange colours they don't look real ...

The Gemstone collection of Phaelanopsis orchids are very common here. It's available in many colors. They are the most interesting, beautiful colors I've ever seen in orchids.

Those aren't bred in colors Andy. Cant be. Has to be a dye or some treatment.

Yes, they're infused using some type patented technology.

They're all white flowers infused with the different colors. The only drawback is when they re-flower they're plain white again. :>((

I first saw these Gemstone orchids about 3 years ago or so.

I think it's used as a selling gimmick.

Bathgate:

You're correct. :>)

It does remind me of that experiment we did in grade school with the celery stalk in the colored water.

Most likely it works something like that.
